NCFE Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction and Fork Lift Trucks)

Course Outline

All courses provide the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating the specific Industrial lift truck and be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good practice outlined by the HSE.


This qualification is suitable for learners aged 19+ and above. This qualification assesses occupational competence in the workplace where learners are required to demonstrate skills and knowledge to the level required in the construction industry.

The qualification is designed for learners employed within the Construction, Planning and Built Environment sector across a broad range of job roles and will cover health and safety and productive working practices, before learners focus on their area of interest.

Course Content

Knowledge and practical skills involved in operating the specific industrial lift truck

  • Carry out a pre-shift inspection
  • Understanding the causes of instability of the truck and loads
  • Have a basic understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & other current relevant legislation
  • Participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations/exercises
  • Assessments practical & theory areas to obtain a certificate of basic training issued to the company

Days required depend on number of trainees, truck type, level of experience and site restrictions
