Course Outline

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Services (QCF) is vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed beautician. This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Standards preparing learners for a career as a beautician.


This qualification has been specifically designed to help develop the knowledge & skills to prepare you for employment as a beautician. You will have your Beauty Therapy skills assessed in a realistic working environment.

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beautician including: facial skin care, application of make-up, providing manicure, pedicure and nail art services.

You will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in a salon environment, and client care and communication. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification to develop your designated career pathway as a beautician.

Also within your course you will develop your knowledge on how to set up your own business by learning about business plans, business legislation and enterprise skills

All our tutors are fully qualified teachers with industry experience and all courses are certificated by VTCT (International awarding body in Beauty).

Career Opportunities

The qualification could be pursued in a variety of contexts as a junior beautician/beauty specialist, including:

  • Working in commercial beauty salons
  • Working in a retail concession in a department store
  • Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

Provide pedicure treatments

Follow health & safety practice in the salon


The course is fully funded by the government course if you meet certain criteria, please see below to find out if you are eligible;

  • Aged 19 or over on the 31st August 2016
  • Resident in the UK or EU for the past 3 years
  • Unemployed claiming a state benefit or on universal credit earning less than £330 a month & in an: All work related group, Work preparation group, or work-focused interview group
  • Receive employment & support allowance (ESA) & are in the work-related activity group (WRAG)
  • Actively seeking work
  • Able to provide appropriate identification documents
  • Able & willing to attend all training sessions and on time
  • Receiving income support
  • Living within Manchester and Cheshire East areas
